Stylin 300, baby! We celebrated with all the music we love. Jazz got us started with the likes of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's new album. Then it was another Trainspotters' Corner with Scotland's Linkwood Family doing a killer re-edit of the Leo's Sunshipp soul classic from 1978. Hip hop came next with some moody cuts and great lyrics on Ohene's tribute to Nina Simone. A drum & bass bracket featured J Majik & Wickaman's new album plus remixes of Ghostface/Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder. Other notables included another cut from NZ horns & beats don Lewis McCallum, Warehouse 5 doing a quality version of the Nightwriters 80s house classic and a new afrobeat project from Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble's Kaleta.

So not much old music to celebrate Stylin 300? Well this week, it's time. 3RRR Radiothon 007 is upon us, which means two 'Radiothon Rewind' Stylin shows of re-spins, revisits, re-edits and returns to the classics. Hit me up with any suggestions. Of course, these shows are also about keeping 3RRR-FM and Stylin on the airwaves. Everyone that subscribes live during the show (or lets me know beforehand) gets on the roll call too. Nuff dope prizes and the chance to win goodies all year, like the people who won Common's new album last week. All the info and subscription forms at www.rrr.org.au/radiothon.php.

Stylin broadcasts live each Friday on Australia's best known community station, 3RRR-FM Melbourne.
