First, please excuse the cold. I'd like to think it makes me sound like Barry White, but it's probably more like Barry Humphries!

At least we had the music. Turns out there's a 35-track strong album where the 4-track Onra & Quetzal EP I previously played comes from. I opened the show with a tiny intro cut, but this is just a sniff of how good the album is - MPC soul for donut(s) lovers. Toronto beat don Marco Polo has a very good album out on Rawkus with a killer lineup of MCs. We heard Large Professor with a tune that could well have made the cut for Main Source's 'Breaking Atoms' back in the day. Quite a bit more hip hop including Common produced by DJ Premier, Prefuse 73 on the beats for Japanese rapper Twigy and two cuts based around Art of Noise classics. Also check for Craig Loftis' James Brown cut-up, Tortoise's drummers with a new project called Bumps, deep tech from Steal Vybe and Stefan Goldmann, Lady Alma produced by Mark de Clive-Lowe, Ananda Project doing samba and the return of Canada's Montag, now sounding like Air meets Brian WIlson (or something). Plus more from recent favourites Somatik, Chin Chin, Darlene McCoy and Donnie.

Next week, don't miss the long overdue return to Stylin for soul collector extraordinaire, Dave Sinclair.

Stylin broadcasts live each Friday on Australia's best known community station, 3RRR-FM Melbourne.
