This week: new music from Kanye West, Nas, KRS-One, Rakim and DJ Premier, and that was just one tune! Tawiah's 'Watch Out' is a devastating piece of slow-burning soul which will be on Gilles Peterson's 'Brownswood Bubblers 2' comp. Sonar Kollektiv continue to produce great compilations like Dirk Rumpff's 'Broadcasting with Offtrack Radio' and Jazzanova and Gerd Janson's 'Computer Incarnations for World Peace', exploring the soulful side of 80s new wave. My other album tip is the grown-up soul of Adriana Evans 'El Camino'. Special mention must also be given to two excellent EPs from our NZ friends. One comes from London-based ex-pat Mark de Clive-Lowe with volume 2 of his 'Freesoul Sessions' project. The other is from Opensouls drummer Julien Dyne with 'Phantom Limbo'. Glad to see Opensouls getting more international attention too thanks to an EP on Nik Weston's Mukatsuku label.

Also dropping in to play the last two tunes of the show was Manchester's Andrea Trout. For more of her flavour, check out her mix in straightup.com.au's guest mixes section.

Stylin broadcasts live each Friday on Australia's best known community station, 3RRR-FM Melbourne.
