Chikashi Nishiwaki is the renaissance man of the Japanese underground scene. Here he lays down a chill mix for straightup.

Dj Chikashi Nishiwaki has been on the Tokyo scene for over 15yrs now and has played with some of the biggest names in the business such as U.F.O., Jazzanova, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Truby and The Truby Trio, Patrick Forge, DJ Krush, Kyoto Jazz Massive & Galliano. He also plays regularly in and around Tokyo with music friends Ryota Nozaki (Jazztronik), & Toshio Matsuura from U.F.O.

Chikashi started djing around 1987 in uptown tokyo. He started off playing hip-hop and jazz beats with fellow artist Dj Krush and other well known Japanese selectas and musicians.

Since then he's been leading the Tokyo underground club scene playing fresh sounds from dub, brazil, latin jazz & house to nu jazz & West London broken beats. He has organized and played at events alongside such artists as Toshio Matsuura & U.F.O , DJ Krush, Monday Michiru, Gilles Peterson, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Patrick Forge, Rainer Truby & The Truby Trio, Jazzanova, Pizzcart Five, Da lata , Joe Davis, & Galliano.
In 2001 he was selected as one of the best mix-masters by Toshio Matsuura from U.F.O, & Ryota Nozaki (jazztronik) in a well known popular Japanese club magazine called "remix".

He know runs his own little bar ‘Tree’ in Suruga/Fukui, just outside of Tokyo, as well as playing around his country. Chikashi is very much looking forward to playing the fresh sounds from the Tokyo and London underground for club elites in Australia.

Thanks for the info! One thing though, Tsuruga is well outside of Tokyo, at least 3 hours by bullet train. Maybe you meant it's close to Kyoto?
