A double Trainspotters' Corner this week with Lupe Fiasco sampling the Gunter Kallman Choir and Beyonce (prod. Rich Harrison) using Jake Wade & the Soul Searchers. Also played JC Davis as sampled on Justin Timberlake's 'Damn Girl', but couldn't play the JT version as his voice is butt! The spirit of James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla lives on. We had two posthumous collaborations and a tribute from J Rawls. We revisited previously recommended albums from the Heritage Orchestra, Joy Denalane, Lupe Fiasco and Outkast this week. New albums to check include Dilla's 'The Shining', Stereotyp's more soulful 2nd album 'Keepin Me', Kelis' 'Kelis was Here', the Life Force Trio stepping out from behind Dwight Trible with 'Living Room', Willie Bobo's 'Lost & Found' collection of previously unheard 70s latin funk, the incredible new (not 'nu'!) jazz of Kenny Garrett's 'Beyond the Wall' featuring Pharoah Sanders and Bobby Hutcherson, and Sydney's Kidzen aka Cameron Undy whose self-titled album takes an experimental approach to jazz, electronica and broken beats, and then gets remixed by the likes of Domu, Deepchild and Peret Mako.
