After last week's Stylin Loves 2008, this was the first regular Stylin since November. Obviously there was plenty of new music to catch up on, but most of it will have to wait as we had two important tributes as a result of some sad news in December.

Freddie Hubbard is one of the giants of jazz trumpet and we dipped into some of my favourites spanning nearly 50 years! Music that has inspired the likes of Theo Parrish, Pepe Braddock and A Tribe Called Quest.

After Melbourne's music scene lost the young and talented keyboardist Will Poskitt in November, I was sorry to hear from Simon Grey of the death of amazing vocalist Abby Joyce who performs alongside Will and Simon on Lanu's 'Rise'. Abby has also featured on music from Simon himself as well as other Stylin favourites Bennson, DJ Jorj and Mark John.

In other tunes, special mentions go to the Canadian crew with killer new tracks from Alister Johnson with Sacha Williamson, 1Luv aka Dr J and Sekoya vocalist Amalia guesting with London's Altered Natives

Stylin broadcasts live each Friday on Australia's best known community station, 3RRR-FM Melbourne.
