STYLIN 352

We lost a true giant of music this week: Isaac Hayes. Of course we had to revisit his amazing music which has provided so much inspiration to the next generation of Stylin favourites like Massive Attack, Portishead, the Avalanches, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Big Daddy Kane, the Visioneers and so many more.

Recloose also dropped in to give us a little live mix. Check out his latest album Perfect Timing which gets a worldwide release shortly thanks to Sonar Kollektiv.

I even got to play a handful of tunes amongst all this. DJ Mujava's massive bleepy kwaito tune 'Township Funk' inspired me to dig out a couple of late 80s/early 90s bleepy favourites from Neal Howard and Heychild, plus we had a killer unreleased cut from UK producer Floatingpoints which definitely brings the early 90s dirty Carl Craig flavour.

Next week: the first of two Stylin Radiothon Rewind shows. Recent and older favourites of yours and mine will be played as we roll call those good people who support Stylin by subscribing to 3RRR-FM. These are also the people who win all the album and event giveaways we do on the show throughout the year. They also get a stack of discounts all around town and get the chance to win amazing Radiothon prizes, some of the best of which have gone to Stylin subscribers in recent years! If you subscribe online rather than by calling during the show, don't forget to email me so we can add you to the roll call.
