STYLIN 351

Heavy on the jazz again in the first hour this show. Theo Croker is an American trumpeter who has been doing some work in China with Melbourne sax don Willow Neilson. What fruit that has born - we heard an extract from an amazing 22-minute version of Bill Lee's classic dedication to John Coltrane. Also we dip further into recent albums by Arun Ghosh and Avishai Cohen, plus new music from ex-Roy Ayers collaborator Harry Whitaker and his current bassist Omer Avital. New music from Ed Motta is about as big as music news gets in my world, and there are a couple of cuts from his new all-in-English album which won't leave my head.

Other notables: future beats from J Todd and Brisbane producer Indelible, Brand Nubian's Sadat X back with a killer cut, Human Factor give a jap jazz classic the D&B treatment, another great new afrobeat release with Baba Ken, and Paul Randolph comes with some deep soul house.

Stylin broadcasts live each Friday on Australia's best known community station, 3RRR-FM Melbourne.
